The Process

“I don’t do much to my skin. I spend a lot of time outdoors and wear make up just once or twice a week. I don’t exfoliate or cleanse but I do moisturise a little.” This is what I told my skin therapist during my consultation, expecting a stern telling off in return for not wearing an SPF each day and cleansing morning and night. Instead, she wasn’t phased, and said the best way to understand my skin was for her to assess it during the treatment. I was having the SKIN Lounge Signature Radiance Facial – a relaxing facial designed by the team using medical grade products.

My therapist took me down into the treatment room and told me to get down to my underwear before climbing into the bed. At first, I thought this was a little strange, this was a facial? But when I climbed into the bed and nestled myself between the fluffy pillows and plump duvet, I understood why. The treatment was an hour-long; she began by applying multiple cleansers and an exfoliant on my skin, before delicately removing each one. This was then followed by a wonderful neck and shoulder massage. Next, a skin mask was painted onto my face and, while it set, I was given a head massage, at which point I really felt my self start to relax, drifting in and out of consciousness. After the mask was removed, the final few products were applied and the therapist slipped out of the room, to allow me to get dressed. It would be an understatement to say I was smug to hear I have great skin, just a little dehydrated. Score!

The Results

It may be cliché to say that my skin was glowing when I left the SKIN Lounge, but it really was. My face felt hydrated but not oily. My cheeks felt plump yet supple at the same time. I felt radiant and not to mention relaxed, thanks to the wonderful back, neck and head massage.

The Details

The SKIN Lounge was founded by Rachel Huskin in 2012 and between herself and the rest of the team they have over 38 years experience. It can be scary, putting the trust of your appearance into someone new but I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Rachel – I’m even tempted to start cleansing and exfoliating!
