Nougat, on Westbourne Grove, is a small but cosy spa bursting with beauty products, clothes and, hidden away downstairs, treatment rooms offering a range of pampering therapies. From massages to manicures, all treatments are designed to ‘leave you feeling relaxed, pampered and full of life’. Perfect! My mission was to sample the Pristine Pedicure, the most luxurious foot treatment they offer, but they also cater for quick lunchtime pick-me-ups or even pampering parties for up to eight people. The perfect hen party for those who don’t enjoy wearing condoms on their head?
The Process:
My feet tend to either spend winter months trapped in socks (even in bed) or, during the occasional hot days of summer, they brave the elements in a pair of flip flops and generally end up dry and covered with chipped nail varnish. So I was keen to find out what possibly could be done for my poor mistreated feet. Firstly my feet were bathed in a warm spearmint bath to soften the skin and cuticles; then they were exfoliated and the aforementioned chipped varnish was removed and my poor excuse for toenails were filed and made to look vaguely respectable. After a good buff and cuticle removal my feet were placed in a plastic sock that was half way between a nappy and a sanitary towel, but fortunately was neither. It warmed my feet and infused them with a softening and rehydrating cream which prepared them for the finale, four coats of varnish; one moisturising primer; two coats of a beautiful orange coral and one protector to save them from my bad foot habits. Voila – flawless tootsies.
The Result:
I feel ready to bare all to the world – well my feet anyway. Bring on the peep-toed shoes (are they even in fashion anymore?) or whatever footwear will best show off my gorgeous toes. At home, my housemate noticed how smooth-looking they were.
