Founded in 1990, Beauchamp Foot Care is one of the most established podiatry clinics in London. Hidden behind an inconspicuous door on Beauchamp Place, this prestigious clinic specialises in medical pedicures, podiatry, toenail surgery and specialist laser treatment for fungal nail infections.
The Process:
I was here to sample the One-Hour Treatment with BFC partner, Fiona Patterson. Present since the clinic’s inception, lovely Fiona has a BSc degree in podiatric medicine and is a qualified lecturer on chiropody.
The treatment begins with a heaven-scented footbath, cutting and filing the nails, removal of any corns and callouses and a thorough check for any nail infections or ingrown toenails. When I saw the scalpel I was anticipating a vicious attack, but in reality it was entirely painless – only dead skin is removed, so it tickles at most. Reassuringly, all apparatus used are disposable, and opened fresh for each customer.
After the medical stages, my feet were buffed and slathered with a gritty foot scrub. Managing to strike just the right balance between futile stroking and scouring to the bone, the scrub left my feet super-soft. My cuticles were then treated and my toenails painted a brilliant magenta. The clinic has a huge range of colours and stocks only Essie polish, which is, in my opinion, unsurpassed.
There are three individual treatment rooms, creating a discreet environment if you’re sheepish about exposing your callouses to all and sundry. I was provided with magazines and my room was extremely light, clean and climate-controlled within an inch of its life.
The Result:
Definitely the best pedicure in west London. The chiropodist’s expertise and private treatment rooms are far more pleasant than a straightforward nail salon, and my feet left looking like Cinderella’s.
The clinic is also ideal for knarly-footed males who enjoy the macho hygiene credentials and wouldn’t feel comfortable exposing their claws in a girly and gossipy nail bar.
But best of all, the clinic didn’t have that awful scent of cheap acrylics, gels and acetone.
