The Blurb
If things had gone to plan – and they really didn’t – I should have been in Mexico round about now. Unfortunately, the world and more specifically, Coronavirus, had other plans.
So it was bittersweet perhaps that the offer to review Wahacas Valentines Set Meal for Two landed in my lap this week. For the purposes of getting this review out in time, this was eaten prior to the big day and alone but I’m confident that if you like Mexican food (and who doesn’t?) this is a great option for couples looking to treat themselves this 14th February with a takeaway.
The Experience and the Food
It’s a generous deal (please see the full menu below), with a great offering of starters, sides, mains and a dessert plus a wealth of salsas and all-important Guacamole.
My personal standouts were the Buttermilk Chicken Tacos and Crispy Cauliflower bites, though I also loved the simple Tortilla chips with guac. The desert was also brilliant, chiefly because it was Churros with chocolate sauce and you can never go wrong with those!
Special mention goes to the two Passion Fruit Margarita’s sent with my meal, pre-made and bottled, ready to be shaken up and poured over ice that were delicious. So if you’re looking to have alcohol with your feast (and let’s face it, you probably are), I’d recommend including these whole heartedly.
Whilst the meal wasn’t quite as good as it would have been if it were served to me on a sun lounger in Tulum, it’s about as close as Im going to get until Boris says we can all go on holiday again. All in all, this menu was a winner for me and I’m pleased to report there was enough left over for me to have it all over again the next day. Apart from the Churros and Margaritas, there was no holding back there.
