Melody Rose

I loved surrealism growing up and my pieces have a surreal nature to them.

This is such an exciting time to be living in – if you’re a tea pot, tea cup or tea lover. No, my brain is not stewed from the weekend – I’m being as serious as a caffeine fix after a stag do. Gone are the days when tea sets were as fun as a gold gilt rim and a hand-painted flower. Thanks to designers like Melanie Roseveare, you can have tea with skulls, bugs and even a bare bum. Certainly makes afternoon tea with grandma a little more unpredictable! ‘Re-imagining each piece for today’s tastes is a way of bringing them back to life and to use,’ she explains. ‘I loved surrealism growing up and my pieces have a surreal nature to them. Early influences include Rene Magritte, Max Ernst, Miro and Frida Kahlo, but I also have had a lifelong passion for music – hence the Rock and Roll range.

Why buy now?

Just one year after forming Melody Rose, the designer has recently launched three funky collections (Rock and Roll, Urban Nature and Modern Surrealism) on the eclectic website Not On The High Street. So not only are they attainable, but they’ve been given the super cool stamp of approval only NOTH can bestow. ‘My pieces are for people who love the unusual and unique. Why save a piece for once in a blue moon or a special occasion just because it’s ‘special’. I think special deserves to be used!’ I’ll drink to that.
