‘I gave him several options to call me and finally I called him and we ended up rowing, which is ridiculous – we haven’t even kissed. He got defensive and said I wouldn’t be bothered about a call if I wasn’t going to visit him.’

‘You could say to him that you think he’s special but he hasn’t made you feel special and suggest he visits you instead of you visiting him,’ Monique advised.

I hadn’t caught up with Kate for a while so I gave her the backstory. ‘Perhaps he doesn’t want to show off his money,’ Kate said, referring to the revoked invite to Italy.
‘He’s not Trustafarian,’ I said.
‘Perhaps he’ll send a driver,’ she said optimistically when I said he hadn’t offered to meet me at the airport.
‘He’s not the blood-red-artwork-owning ex,’ I laughed.
