We joined the bank of photographers to marvel at the Chelsea Pensioners, whose red uniforms added vibrancy to The Westland Magical Garden’s pyramid-shaped terraces; spotted Anneka Rice and Esther Rantzen among the crowd listening to singer Laura Wright (who will be performing for the Diamond Jubilee) in the Italian Renaissance-inspired The Arthritis Research UK Garden; and saw Trevor McDonald and Piers Morgan catching up by the steel band performing in the Great Pavilion.
I was tempted to lie when Nigel Havers asked if I’d designed the garden that I used as a backdrop for his pic and Floella Benjamin seemed surprised that I asked to take her photo during the celeb-filled press day.
