Tell us about the new West End show, Little Piece of You: An Atypical Musical in Concert. What is the show about?

This groundbreaking production intertwines raw family drama with the dynamic pulse of modern rock and pop. Audiences follow Shannon and Britt, a courageous mother and daughter, as they confront their family’s hidden struggles and embark on a transformative journey. Together, they shatter the silence that has long held them back and step into a future of hope and resilience.

What drew you to the role?

First of all, it was the incredible songs by the brilliant new talent Kjersti Long – who wrote the songs in lockdown aged just 14. The aspect of generational trauma also drew me to the role.

What would you say makes it an important story to tell?

Being a mum to my second teenager, the subject is an important part of life not often seen on stage.

You’ve had such a varied career that spans decades and boasts platinum-selling albums, presenting, acting and you’re even a published author (not to mention topping it all off with an MBE!). Has the meaning of success changed for you over the years?

The meaning of success has always been the same for me, and that is being free to be an artist, and this being all I’ve ever been is truly a gift. I’ve never had a job got signed at 17. I feel very fortunate.

What is it that drives you when taking on a new role?

What drives me is anything new I want to experience myself in different aspects of artistic expression. This is very frightening but exhilarating too. I never know if it will go well or not I just follow my passion and pray people are moved by whatever I do.

You’re a true Londoner, what would your perfect weekend off in the city be like?

I would begin with a walk in Holland Park with my Bijon toy poodle dog Dali, then take my grandkids to Harrods toy shop followed by a trip to KX gym and enjoy the spa.

Any favourite West London haunts?

Daphneys restaurant or Six Portland restaurant, then on to Chiltern Firehouse – they take dogs too which is great, there is also an amazing courtyard fireplace.

What have your favourite moments of your career been?

I have been very lucky but going platinum on my first album and the success of So Good at 18 are obviously highlights. Then there is singing with the likes of Prince and Chaka Khan plus recently singing for all of the Windrush generations for the Royal British Legion and King Charles and Queen Camilla.
