What were your earliest aspirations? Have you always loved fashion?
I am not formally trained and so l have learnt on the job. I had no aspirations as such. Rather I was lucky enough to work for fashion designer Elspeth Gibson for a few years which was an invaluable insight into the day-to-day business of fashion. This inspired me to set out on my own.
How long ago did you launch Goat and why did you feel that there was a gap in the market for your brand?
I launched Goat 10 years ago. I felt there was a gap in the market for understated timeless pieces which would be luxurious and versatile. These simple pieces always seem to be the most elusive.
What/who inspires your work?
My friends, books, a vintage piece or fabric or just a colour. It just depends. Everything and anything.
Which item of your wardrobe could you not live without?
My Northcote cashmere coat from my AW/11 collection. I love it so much that I have four!
Where do you love to shop?
I like shopping in Paris, especially in Le Marais.
Describe your perfect weekend…
Going to the country, taking it easy and spending time with my children.
Your sample sales are infamous. Why do you think this is?
We have a very loyal sample sale client base. These are savvy shoppers and love a good quality bargain!
Tell us your Goat plans for the future…
We are incredibly busy at the moment. We have just launched an exclusive limited-edition collection with Matches called Goat Ten. This is a lovely collaboration with one of our longest standing stockists to celebrate our 10-year anniversary.
