Your latest collection is called Cult. What’s it all about?
It is based on my favorite cult movies and the bombshell babes in them. So there are dresses inspired by everything from Pulp Fiction to Silence of the Lambs.
Pixie Lott and Daisy Lowe are often seen in your designs. Who would you most like to dress?
I would love it if Rihanna wore one of my dresses; I love her style and think she is awesome.
Will ordinary women feel comfortable in your dresses?
For sure my whole ethos is that I want to make dresses that make women feel great and confident about themselves whatever shape, size or build.
You set up the label in 2010. What was your inspiration?
My weight fluctuated quite a lot growing up and I thought there were certain shapes that suited me and I felt confident in no matter what my size, so I thought that I would like to design dresses that are flattering and affordable.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
Feminine, fun and flattering.
Have you ever worn anything you look back on and cringe? Any fashion disasters?
Oh my gosh loads! I once wore a black silk corset with a bright pink tutu and a really dodgy fake tan. That one stands out in my mind!
Your father’s a renowned jewellery designer, your mother’s a novelist and your sister’s an actress. Would you say creativity is in your blood?
I think we were very lucky to have had a very fun atmosphere in our family growing up so that probably lends itself to a more creative path in the end.
Where’s your favourite place in West London?
Chic Freak – it’s an awesome shop on Portabello Road that stock my dresses and lots of really cool designers like Rodnik Band and Wildfox.
Where do you like to shop?
I love shopping online finding lots of weird and wonderful things from all over the globe. My current favorites are nastygal.com and faketokyo.com.
Was there ever a plan B?
I tried a lot of things out before I started my label but I don’t think there was a plan B, just trying to find a plan A!
What do you hope to achieve in the future?
I would love to continue to grow my brand globally and to collaborate more with other designers. I’m working on a collection with a print designer at the moment and it is so much fun!
Where is your favourite place in the world?
It’s actually being at home at my parents’ house in Berkshire. I love getting out of London on the weekends and getting to relax and hang out with my family.
