SALT Pilates

Peppe Class at SALT Pilates

The Blurb:

This is the first Pilates studio in the UK to launch the new dynamic chair class which SALT has named the Peppe class (pronounced pepper). This three-dimensional class is completely functional and relevant in our modern lives as the chair/seat is generally what we are using for 80% of our day.

The chair is built to strengthen the whole body using a flowing workout that can be tailored to different needs and levels – the studio even has classes for expectant mums (Bun in the oven) and those suffering injuries (Battered & Bent). Plus there’s plenty of individual attention with no more than eight people to a class.

The Process:

Located in a studio (Dannii Minogue’s Project D is located next door) overlooking a leafy Fulham street and with a chilled soundtrack playing, I found this class relaxing yet challenging. The chair was simple to adjust for the different moves throughout the workout.

The workout started with simple stretches and moved through a series of exercises for the whole body, including arm, stomach and leg exercises to the more unusual such as strengthening the ankles. I liked the fact that our instructor did each move with us and was very attentive, ensuring we did each exercise properly. There were also variations to each move, so I could work at my own level as well as push myself to the next.

The Result:

I found the class particularly helped my poor balance, coordination and core strength. I would combine this class with some cardio exercise for a balanced fitness routine.
