Semi-Permanent Colour and Wella Infusion Conditioning Treatment at Kell Skött

The Blurb:

I love summer; sunny picnics, beachy days and balmy evenings. My summer hair on the other hand is not such a pretty sight; more of a sun-bleached, frazzled nest rather than long sun-kissed locks. I need help, and who better to run to than Kell Skött.

The Notting Hill salon was recently announced ‘Best UK Salon’ by Vogue.com and Wella. Run by husband and wife duo Kell and Jaqueline Skött, the salon is as famous for its homemade chocolate brownies as it is for its award-winning cuts.

The Process:

Having been greeted by my adorable stylist Vincent I was soon neck-deep in glossy magazines, sipping a latte and attacking a brownie as he analysed my troubled tresses. Vincent decided that a semi-permanent colour would work for me (washing out after 15-20 washes) and that to restore my hair’s natural depth of colour (that had been robbed by the sun!) I should go two shades darker all over.

Instead of simply giving me a standard colour wash, Vincent selected two complimentary shades and mixed them for a bespoke look to suit my tones.

In order to ensure the colour did not dry out my hair I was treated to a special colour safe-infusing conditioning treatment (£18). The treatments come in 35 unique prescriptions, delivering bespoke results. My mask left my hair glossy and soft – and the head massage was totally divine.

For west London ladies not looking for colour but wanting to improve the quality of their hair the salon do a fantastic Micromist conditioning treatment. Hot off the press, the new treatment from Japan uses ultrasonic waves to generate microscopic particles of mist allowing conditioners to penetrate deep into the hair cuticle delivering a powerful moisture boost (£28).

Following my colour and condition, Vincent convinced me that I needed to lose almost two inches off the length to improve my hair’s condition. He also cut a lovely, subtle side fringe which gave my hair real shape.

The Result:

My hair was a lot darker than I anticipated but as soon as I stepped out of the salon I embraced my new chocolate locks and after adding some bronzer I felt a lot better. The deep tones brought out my eyes and gave definition to my facial features and the side fringe really flattered my face. You know when someone has had a brilliant hair cut because you can’t remember what it looked like before; that was how this felt. As I wandered into the office on Monday not one person seemed to even notice my drastically dark locks; not through lack of change, but because it was so expertly done that it looked totally natural on me.

Cuts from £47; colour from £60; Conditioning treatments from £18.
