They Say:
The Clinic Holland Park is proud to be the first in the UK to offer Sciton’s HALO® TRIBRID™ – the world’s first triple-wavelength hybrid fractional laser for skin rejuvenation.
This advanced technology takes non-surgical skin treatment to the next level, helping to improve: fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage, textural irregularities and overall skin tone and radiance.
HALO® TRIBRID™ combines three laser wavelengths in a single handpiece:
- 2940nm – ablative, for more intensive resurfacing
- 1927nm – non-ablative, for pigmentation and tone
- 1470nm – non-ablative, for deeper rejuvenation
It fuses the benefits of:
- The original HALO for hybrid resurfacing
- MOXI for gentle “prejuvenation”
- Dual-Mode Erbium for deeper skin renewal
As a fractional laser, HALO® TRIBRID™ treats tiny, precise zones within the skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This supports faster healing and powerful results in a streamlined treatment.
In the first few days, as the skin naturally sheds, you may notice: smoother texture, more even tone, and reduced pigmentation. Over the following weeks to months, results continue to improve as new collagen is produced, revealing a fresher, more youthful-looking complexion.
The Process:
We began with a consultation with The Clinic co-founder Dr Jenny Doyle, who checked my skin with the VISIA dermal photography machine, before sending me to a relaxation room to be thoroughly numbed. The strongest topical lidocaine cream (23%) was used, and I was left to cook for around 20 minutes. This is the longest safe time to leave this strength topical anaesthetic on, and in so doing, ensures any discomfort is kept to an absolute minimum.
After a nice afternoon lie down with my book, my face was adequately numb to head downstairs to the laser suite, where I had another lovely lie down, just this time with goggles and Dr Jenny and her TRIBRID machine out in full-force.
I was given a hand-held icy blower device – a cryotherapy machine, which can actually be used as a standalone tightening treatment for a more temporary fix.
Whilst TRIBRID isn’t exactly painful, a few areas can get a little spicy. The extreme cool from the cryotherapy, combined with the sense of agency from operating the blower yourself definitely made the experience less daunting.
The TRIBRID machine measures your facial dimensions before starting, and is fully customisable, allowing the practitioner to decide which wavelength and depth to use on which area in advance. Given my primary concerns were visible pores on my nose, Dr Jenny used the specific dual-mode erdium wavelength to go deeper over that area.
TRIBRID is a remarkably fast treatment – once the topical anaesthetic’s kicked in the treatment itself is little more than ten minutes, and a lot more comfortable than some things I’ve tried in the name of journalism.
Once the treatment was complete Dr Jenny applied a post-treatment sheet mask designed to carry heat out off the skin, and left me to blow cold air over this for another 20 minutes or so. Immediate cooling helps recovery, a bit like running a cookery burn under cold water right away.
The Results:
I was anticipating a far more significant recovery period – I was slightly red and sandpapery for the first three days, but there wasn’t any pain. I’d been led to expect a sunburn sensation in the evening after, but I didn’t feel any significant heat. Having said this, I had been extremely diligent about post-treatment sheet masks, slathered on hydration and cica creams, and got through an entire bottle of hyaluronic acid serum in the 48 hours following the treatment.
After three or so days of mild redness and roughness, the glow kicked in, and by day seven my skin was peachy and bright. I hadn’t noticed any of the dark patches called MENDS I’d been warned about. These are small, pigmented dots of dead skin that rise to the surface during healing, but I did notice a more even pigment in the weeks to follow. An unexpected and interesting side-effect of TRIBRID is actually a lowered risk for non-melanoma skin cancers in the areas treated.
We re-scanned my face with the clinic’s VISIA machine at a follow-up appointment two weeks later; the visible pores on my nose had improved quite noticeably and any residual redness from the treatment had all but dissipated.
According to VISIA, my skin age is pushing a decade below its chronological age, and should only continue to improve over the next couple of months. The deeper dermis-depth, dual-mode erbium laser encourages a surge in collagen production, with improvements increasingly visible as time goes on.
