Dimple Amani at Selfridges

Dimple Amani is a “London-born entrepreneur with rich Indian roots’ her practice intertwines ‘traditional Ayurvedic wellness therapies… with western wellness practices.” Dimple, who began her career in beauty at the age of eighteen, spent sixteen years travelling and perfecting her technique, learning from some of the most ‘esteemed Ayurvedic gurus and experts from around the globe.’

Now based in London, she has combined her research into a list of treatments and products centred around her own practice known as the ‘Dimple Amani Method’ which calls upon ancient ‘Ayurvedic principles, Brazilian lymphatic drainage, Finnish infrared therapies and ancient East-Asian Guasha techniques.’ Renowned globally, Dimple Amani is redefining timeless beauty, now has several outposts across London and is set to open her flagship salon in Knightsbridge in 2025.

It’s the combination of ‘inner wellness’ and ‘outer beauty’ that seems to have struck such a chord with the beauty set – Marie Claire, Glamour and Sheerluxe all sing her praise. CN Traveller named her technique one of the ‘best pregnancy massages in London’, which is music to my ears:  I’m eight and a half months pregnant, I feel like a baby whale and I haven’t had a decent nights sleep in nearly two weeks.

I’m greeted at reception by Tilda- who congratulates me on navigating the maze that is ‘The Selfridges Beauty Department’, ushers me into a quiet, dimly lit treatment room and gently explains what’s to come.

The Process

I’m here for the ‘Full Body Rejuvenation Experience’ a 60 min Ayurvedic massage, designed to ‘debloat, tone and sculpt, boost immunity’ and leave me with ‘glowing skin.’

Tilda’s warmth and humour instantly put me instantly at ease. She’s relaxed and welcoming without being overly formal. As I lie there, I reflect on other slightly awkward massage experiences I’ve had, stiff as a board when I should be melting gently into oblivion.

Tilda starts with a very gently tummy massage designed to activate the lymph nodes, which will help to eliminate excess fluid churned up by the drainage process. She then moves to my feet and firmly continues up to my pregnant ankles, my calves and thighs. The massage is firm in style (my preference) and incorporates the use of Dimple’s much-celebrated wooden body tools.

By the time she asks me to turn over, I’m close to sleep, which feels like a bit of a waste, given that I’m a few miles from home and bang-slap in the middle of Selfridges. As she gently wakes me, I drift out onto Bond Street and hop in a cab, determined to hold onto this lovely floaty feeling all the way back to my bed.

The Results

Even though I’d read glowing reviews of Dimple’s process, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I left feeling deeply rejuvenated, relaxed and ready to rest! I’m pleased to report that following this massage, I had the best nights sleep I’d had in weeks and when I woke next morning, I felt lighter, brighter and ready to tackle anything.
