Colour and cut at Michael Van Clarke

The blurb

Michael Van Clarke has been a hub of Marylebone since 1988, known for being one of London’s best luxury hair and beauty salons as well as creating their own range of hair care: ‘3”’ more inches’. Labelled the most professional salon in London by Vogue, it’s easy to see why they are so popular.

The process

I called the salon prior to going to discuss the look I was after; a better blend of the balayage look that I favour. I arrived at their beautiful salon in Marylebone and met with my colourist, Rocky, who took me through the types of balayage/ombre you can get. I was looking for some contrast but still wanted blonde roots to brighten my face.

She applied the colour and I was left to relax with a latte. As the colour was developing, I had a chat with my stylist, Lamphane, who has cut and styled Orlando Bloom’s hair previously. I was after a blunt cut, but with not too much taken off, which is a difficult feat to achieve. However, he was positive he could give me the look I wanted without too much sacrifice.

Michael Van Clarke have their own method of cutting hair—the diamond dry cut—where the hair is cut clean and dry, which makes it easier to work with the hair’s natural movement and texture.

The results

My experience at Michael Van Clarke was first class and I left with one of the best cuts and colours I have ever received. The colour was natural and just what I was looking for, as was the cut. I would highly recommend the salon to anyone.
