Tucked away behind Kensington High Street lies the newly refurbished Virgin Classic gym. One of just 11 in the country, these are Virgin Active’s most luxurious, state-of-the-art destinations. Boasting anti-gravity yoga, delicious hydrotherapy pool and Jacuzzi, wonderfully warm, atmospherically-lit lengths pool, complementary sunbeds, steam room, sauna, spin studios with outdoor terrain wall projections, mini climbing wall, yoga and Pilates studios, optional female-only gym, weights room, reformers, Powerplate classes, and access to the Chiswick club and its outdoor pool and tennis courts; this club has it all.
Recently unveiled after a £1.1 million refurb, the gym has a chill out area with all-new Apple computers, free wifi, magazines, papers, a quiet adults’ lounge, a vegan café (stocked by nearby Wholefoods), crèche and beautifully appointed changing rooms. Molton Brown products, unlimited towels, decent hairdryers and fluffy white bathrobes make the whole sweaty-fitness-thing a lot more bearable. For the first time I actually look forward to going to the gym!
