The Blurb
What they say:
‘Parson’s Nose first graced the streets of Fulham in 2007, with one ambition in mind- to bring back the traditional butchers shop that was so loved from our childhood memories. At Parson’s Nose, a family-run business, we have tried to do this fond memory justice- by sourcing the finest free-range meats and artisanal products and combining that with knowledgeable and personal service from the best butchers in town.
Today you will find Parson’s Nose in the heart of Fulham, Putney and South Kensington, as well as a bustling online store. The three wonderfully distinct shops provide consistently excellent service and are often visited by regulars, who are greeted by name by our experienced and friendly teams. Despite our expansion, Parson’s Nose has retained the core values that have made our butchers the one to visit: a passion for food, innovation and service we can be proud of.’
The butchers also run Farm to Fork workshops in local schools teaching the children about sustainable farming and nutrition facts as well as teaching them how to cook scrambled eggs. The children even get to take six eggs home with them to cook with their parents!
The Food & The Experience
Parson’s Nose has a list of postcodes that they deliver to in west London, but if you’re out of their catchment area you can always pop in to collect your order. This is what I did, and I got the added bonus of that traditional butcher’s experience. It really was exactly what it says on the tin, from the decor to the customer service. I was greeted by a friendly butcher, who had clearly just prepared my fresh, take-home meal.
I ordered a cauliflower salad, which was ready to eat and generous in portion size. The creamy sauce went beautifully with the umami seasoning on the cauliflower, and the sweet and tangy pomegranate gave it just the right balance. It was healthy without feeling flat; filling, wholesome and full of flavour.
The burger kit comes complete with Red Leicester from their cheese merchant, homemade chipotle mayo, garlic pickles, crispy fried onions, two types of award-winning Canchelo’s chimichurri, their delicious brioche, and, of course, Parson’s Nose pancetta and prime British beef. All you need to add is lettuce and tomato, and you’ve got yourself a state-of-the-art gourmet burger. Also, because Parson’s Nose doesn’t have an unmanageable amount of sites, their meat is guaranteed to be premium quality, so the meat is better than any London burger chain – and I’ve tried them all. The perfectly seasoned chimichurri added a great little spice kick, and it was so moreish that I wanted a second helping
The kit comes with simple instructions, and you can cook the patties to your desired level (medium-rare, in case you were wondering), for a proper restaurant experience. And my, oh, my, the smells that came from my kitchen that afternoon…
