One Star House Party is an unprecedented pop-up restaurant travelling to 20 different countries in 20 months to build 20 very different restaurants using what they discover along the way.
The team comprises chefs trained in some of the world’s best restaurants, including Denmark’s NOMA, London’s The Ledbury and Tom Aikens’ Tom’s Kitchen. In each country they create a new menu inspired by the ingredients that they find, and the experiences that find them. Eight months ago they set out on a journey, travelling around the world. Each month they have moved to a new country, where they have built a week-long restaurant, serving a completely new menu out of everything they discovered.
So far their restaurants have taken them to eight very different places, including the base camp of Mount Everest, night trains through Vietnam and the streets of Mumbai.
This autumn the team have brought their restaurant to London for four weeks only, serving an eight-course tasting menu made up of their favourite dishes from each of the places they have built a restaurant in: enjoy a smorgasbord of flavours from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Everest base camp, India, Oman, Kenya and South Africa. The all-star chefs not only cook right in front of you, but hand-deliver each dish with a one-on-one chat and explanation of how said dish came about! Tales of each pop-up across the world range from suspended raft restaurants in a Thai lake to digging up pumpkins buried the year before and ‘cooked’ by the cold at Everest base-camp.
Stacie McCormick, Founder of Unit 1 Gallery|Workshop, is delighted to host the London One Star House Party as part of her October exhibition alongside featured artist Hermione Allsopp. Stacie has long held the belief that ‘the chef’ is the most unseen artist; this exhibition will allow the team to showcase their research and travels to the public.
The restaurant is open from the 5th October until the 3rd of November in Notting Hill, with the tasting menu priced at £85 per person; drinks are BYOB. Get online and book soon for their last couple of weeks as the food is INCREDIBLE and tickets are sure to sell out fast!
