Winter Beauty: 6 of the Best

There’s a chill in the air and I’m not shaving my legs – it’s Winter! And while the season of festive cheer is a welcome one, the dry, dehydrated skin and hair that very often comes with it is not so welcome. Even for someone like me with oily skin and hair, the Winter months can seriously drain us of our natural sebum – often to husk-like conditions. So, to avoid a dull complexion and brittle locks, we’ve rounded up our top 6 beauty buys for the season – suitable for all skin and hair types – to see you through the colder months with a glowing complexion and salon-standard hair. Seriously, you will need (and want) all of this!

The Solution Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Body Lotion, £9.99 from

Your body lotion should mean business when it comes to the chillier season and The Solution’s Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Body Lotion is just that. Its hyaluronic properties alone are enough to instantly lock in moisture, but this incredible lotion also boasts squalane and sea algae complex – both majorly sought-after ingredients that are key to hydration and overall skin quality improvement. Just to make this product all the more worthy, its texture is thin enough to melt into skin easily, but it feels richly hydrating at the same time; win, win.

It’s hydrating yet balancing with a glorious scent, to boot. A must-have for your skincare routine!

Perricone MD Calming Treatment & Hydrator, £45,

This is a skin saviour – full stop. A blemish-targeting product (who doesn’t need that at some point or another), the Perricone MD Calming Treatment & Hydrator is a little blue bottle of miracle solution. A thin layer is all you’ll need to see post-day-one effects – mainly thanks to an infusion of potent Lactic and Succinic acids. It’s lightweight and calm, so no crazy stinging or irritation, which – for someone with skin as sensitive as mine – is a welcome change to other blemish-control products out there. Use in the morning and/or the evening as part of your daily routine and see instant results!

e.l.f. Cosmetics SuperHydrate Moisturiser, £12,

Squalane is one of those hot-right-now ingredients and it’s not without good reason. This nifty skincare hero has anti-inflammatory properties that mimics the skin’s natural oils and prevents pore-clogging. With a gel-like formula, e.l.f.’s fast-absorbing moisturiser is one of those all-rounder products that quickly becomes a firm favourite. It’s an ideal daily moisturiser for every skin type, quenching any signs of dehydration and yet keeping everything perfectly balanced – my new Winter skin staple.

Available from:

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Dark Circles Eye Cream, £12.99,

A perfect pick-me-up product, Super Facialist’s eye cream is packed with Vitamin C – the holy grail of beauty itself. While Vit C acts as a brightening agent, stimulating caffeine and a dark circle peptide brighten the eye area. With a smooth and light texture, the cream sinks effortlessly; ideal for days when you barely get a chance to brush your hair! It’s for morning and evening, but if you need a good wake-up call I recommend popping it in the fridge after your evening application, ready for the morning. But however you choose to use it, this eye treatment has everything the delicate area needs during the Winter months…and beyond.

Rita Hazan Smoothing Crème, £22,

Firstly, the Rita Hazan ‘Smoothing Crème’ is literally the best-smelling hair product I’ve ever used. Then comes the actual power of what it does: it works as a styling prelude to your at-home blow-dry, while protecting locks from heat and taming any nasty frizz. I am no pro when it comes to hair styling, but this crème made my (mammoth) task a whole lot easier. Blow-dried hair appears smoother, frizz-free and (I know I keep saying this) smelling incredible. It’s a must-have Winter hair all-in-one. After all, who has time to do a three-step hair routine?
