Valentine’s Day 2017 Gift Guide

Sushi Shop 2017 new menu, from £4.50 for six pieces

We all like to make like groovy international citizens by ordering in sushi from time to time. But this is not just any sushi—oh no. The new menu from Sushi Shop has been devised by Michelin-starred chef Kei Kobayashi and is seriously scrumptious, with ingenious flavour combinations—think Salmon Gravlax roll with carrot, cucumber, white turnip, rocket, dill, mint, salmon roe, crumble (us neither, but it’s yummy), and black olive tapenade sauce. Really finger-licking good, and light enough not to jeopardise any subsequent boudoir action.

Pall Mall Barbers Fitzrovia Safety Razor Steamed Ash Shaving Set, £127

A lovely nod to old fashioned male grooming that will with any luck encourage him to conduct himself like a gentleman, on this most romantic (but not necessarily every) night of the year. Also comes in slick black or white resin, for loucher types.

Vigna Di Sarah Prosecco 2015, £9.90

Le Petit Ballon offers hand-picked wines selected by some of the highest-rated sommeliers in the world. This prosecco is deliciously light—and if her name happens to be Sarah, you’re in there!

ice cream

Jude’s ice cream, £4 for 500ml

My mother says that if you think the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach you’re aiming too high. Perhaps if she’d discovered Jude’s rich Colombian chocolate ice cream with a touch of Maldon sea salt she’d have been able to bring me up with a more ladylike approach to life.

Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet

Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet, £26, Lip & Cheek Bloom (peony), £24, Cat Lashes Mascara, £24

Here at WLL we are serious fans of Burberry makeup, and the latest collection is no exception. The sumptuous matt texture and glorious colours of the Liquid Lip Velvet glide on like a dream. Combine the universally flattering crimson with lip and cheek bloom in peony and a slick of cat lashes mascara for a hangover-defying fresh-faced look that’s just begging to be kissed.

Rose quartz

Rose Quartz Age Defence Night Moisturiser, £149

A divinely scented, velvety textured cream to get you in the mood for romance—your cheeks will be soft enough for stroking as he gazes into your eyes (just before breaking your little heart).

Relais & Chateaux

La Vie est Belle gift box, Relais et Chateaux, £425

The thing about these ‘experience’ presents is that you’re actually treating yourself under the guise of extreme generosity. Relais & Chateaux, an international collection of gourmet restaurants and luxury hotels, offers 14 gift boxes, starting from £150.

We’ve picked La Vie est Belle partly because of its name: it gives you and your beloved one night in a superior room, a four course dinner with a glass of champagne (you might want to supplement this—see below) and breakfast—accepted in 195 really lovely hotels. If this doesn’t get you laid, nothing will.

Champagne de Sousa, Cuvée 3A, from £40

With its Cuvée 3A, the de Sousa Champagne house obtained a 20/20 rating from a jury of connoisseurs gathered together by the respected French magazine Terre de Vins.

A marvel of finesse and flavours, this is a champagne that you might expect from Erick de Sousa’s champagne house, attained through his application of biodynamic principles and a constant search for improvement in the quality of his vintages. The ideal champagne for a celebration with a loved one on Valentine’s Day.

Damien Hirst

‘Love is all You Need’ silkscreen print, Damian Hirst, £25,000

OK, so this one is just a tad on the pricey side, but oh so pretty. Just look at it! Butterflies! Silk! The enfant terrible of Brit Art! Actually scrub buying it for the love of your life—if you can afford it, I’d highly recommend buying it for yourself. Bonus: it’ll probably* get more valuable with age.
*Disclaimer: educated guess.
