Forget mermaid hair, this summer the biggest hair trend is to go back to bang-basics—which is also thankfully much easier to maintain!
We asked three hair salon experts for the scoop on fringes, including style tips for different hair types and face shapes, plus which celebs are wearing what now.
The side sweep
Best for: heart shapes
Errol Douglas, founder of Errol Douglas London:
‘Heart-shaped faces suit a side-swept fringe; the asymmetry of the fringe helps to balance the face and makes the eyes the focal point. If you have a heart-shaped face, opt for long, sweeping fringes that enhance bold brows and highlight the eyes.’
The micro fringe
Best for: oval shapes
Sam Burnett, Creative Director and founder of Hare & Bone:
‘Oval faces are the most versatile when it comes to fringes and look great with a micro fringe. Soft facial features are best suited to very structured cuts.’
The Bardot bang
Best for: oval shapes
Bryn Wilkins, co-founder of Easton Regal Hairdressing:
‘Razor-like, choppy bangs are a huge trend for 2016. We are seeing a lot of rocky looks on the catwalks with short, androgynous hairstyles—these styles look amazing on oval shaped faces.’
