Benihana 50th Anniversary

While Benihana is certainly a staple on the London dining scene, you might be forgiven for not realising quite how long the Japanese steakhouse has been around. Hiroaki ‘Rocky’ Aoki started the restaurant chain in 1964, making 2014 their 50th anniversary, having grown in the meantime to 120 locations worldwide.

To celebrate Benihana are running a series of five promotions from June to August—one for each decade of success! These promotions range from more standard fare, such as the £5 lunch Beni-platter and £50 eight-course meal for two, to the quirkier introduction of the Sake Ceremony, the smashing of an 18-litre sake barrel in the restaurant, or the special Keiko Menu for women only, in honour of Benihana CEO Keiko Ono Aoki (nine courses with a cocktail and glass of wine for £30).

There are also plenty of chances to win prizes, with all diners entered into a draw for five £100 vouchers a month, an ongoing Loyalty Card lottery worth £50,000 and a ‘Global Star Chef Competition’—submit a video of your own Teppan tricks and moves and potentially win $5,000!

Finally, there will be a UK visit from the Beni-Girls, an urban dance group performance inspired by the Teppan skills of Benihana chefs, at some point in the summer. Keep an eye out on their site and don’t miss it!
