Dorian: The Musical; Southwark Playhouse; 4th July-10th August; Tickets £28 Standard, £24 Concessions

A song. A wish. A picture.

When mysterious young musician Dorian Gray becomes an overnight sensation, he discovers that all his wishes have come true. A lonely boy, bereft of love, all he wanted was the world to notice him.

So why does his life still seem so empty?

After charismatic music producer Harry Wotton propels him into superstardom, Dorian finds himself trapped both in the viewfinder of celebrity photographer Baz Halward’s camera, and in the affections of winsome opera singer Sibyl Vane.

Harry wants to make him immortal. Baz wants to capture his soul. Sibyl only wants to love him.

But can someone who has sold his soul ever love her back? Or is he destined to forever be King of the Black Hearts, trapped in eternal youth?

Dorian is a modern, queer adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde’s classic fable of youth, power, and immortality. Thrust into the 21st century where in the looking glass of social media the young and beautiful hold all the cards, this bold, contemporary retelling features a glam-rock score by Joe Evans and Linnie Reedman, and a lead performance by Alfie Friedman.

Friedman’s credits include The Undeclared War on Channel 4; The Witches of Eastwick, Sondheim Theatre; Legacy, Menier Chocolate Factory; Laughing Boy, Jermyn Street Theatre and Theatre Royal Bath.
