Joanna Lumley Launches Next-Generation Retirement Residence, Riverstone Kensington

Dame Joanna Lumley officially opened the doors to Riverstone Kensington, the later living residence for over-65s. A symbol of her generation and an advocate for doing things differently, Joanna took the opportunity to talk to guests about keeping busy and enjoying life to the full.

Today’s over-65s aren’t necessarily looking to retire, give up life in the capital or move away from a well-loved neighbourhood with family and friends. And why should they? But there is a gap in the market* for what this generation actually wants: to maintain their lifestyle, close to friends and family but in a setting that suits them, a stylish apartment, with incredible amenities and a close-knit community.

Riverstone offers exactly that: beautiful apartments that are adaptable to changing needs; incredible design; exceptional amenities including a spa, restaurant, cinema, and swimming pool; and stellar service with 24/7 concierge and well-being and discreet care.

“Just looking around, I’m dazzled,” says Joanna.

Joanna toasted the launch with ‘The Lumley’, her signature bright-blue cocktail that was inspired by Sir Ranulph Fiennes and his Antarctic expedition. The secret recipe was divulged – simply pour a dessert spoonful of Blue Curaçao over a scoop of lemon sorbet, and top with vodka. Joanna quipped, “two of these and you’ll forget your name”, as she leaned against the beautiful marble bar and chatted to guests.

Guests enjoyed Italian-inspired canapes and cocktails from Robin Gill’s on-site restaurant, Maria G’s, before taking tours around

Riverstone Kensington is now open. For further information or to book a viewing, visit www.riverstoneliving.com.
