Heart FM radio presenter Nick Snaith on flying and late-night kebabs

Where do you live and why?

I live in Bayswater – just around the corner from Cherryjam.

You DJ for Heart FM. How do feel knowing over three million people listen to your show?

I don’t really think about it. Radio is very intimate so I feel as though I’m talking to just one person.

Where is your favourite place to eat out in west London?

I love The Oak on Westbourne Park Road – they do the best pizzas!

What inspired you to get involved with Cherryjam?

I went with a friend and loved it so much I ended up buying it!

You have a pretty impressive cocktail menu at Cherryjam. What do you recommend?

We are well-known for our cocktails – we use fresh fruit and fresh purees. If the guys have time I like nothing more than an Old Fashioned but it takes ages to make so I don’t get one very often.

Is it true you have a pilot’s license? Do you have your own plane?

Yes I do. I started flying 12 years ago but didn’t fly seriously until I started again three years ago. I have a share in a four-seater Piper Warrior plane.

What is in your fridge right now?

A pizza – well it was in the fridge; it’s in the oven as we speak. Lots of lovely cheese, a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and not much more.

What’s on your iPod?

I’m loving Arcade Fire at the moment.

Will you be going to any festivals this summer?

I saw Prince at Hop Farm Festival in Kent but that’s it for this year as I’m too busy.  I may go to V if I get a last-minute ticket I’ve been sort of promised.

You have also presented holiday programmes for BBC1. What has been your favourite destination and why?

I loved Northern Cyprus – there is a lot of history and it’s such an unspoilt part of the island. Miles and miles of beautiful beach and not one hotel, restaurant or beach hut.

What do you miss when you’re away?

My bed – I must be getting old! Oh, and a proper cup of tea.

What could you not live without?

My Mac computer.

Have you ever stolen anything?

A tape measure from B&Q although it was unintentional; I couldn’t be bothered to go back once I realised.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Late-night kebabs.

Olivia Allwood-Mollon chats to Minette Rice Edwards, owner of Ham House Stables

Can you tell us a bit about Ham House Stables, and how it came into your possession?

Ham House Stables is the stable building to Ham House, built, as was the house, in 1610 by Sir Thomas Vavasour. He was Knight Marshal to James I, so he would have had a particular interest in constructing beautiful stables.… Read more →
