Head of Concierge, Lady Cosima Somerset, on exceptional service and favourite west London spots

Where do you live and why?

Fulham. All my siblings live within walking distance.

What’s the concept behind Concierge?

Exceptional service and beautiful manners.

What has been your most unusual request?

Nothing is unusual at Concierge.

And the least glamorous?

Arriving at City Airport to deliver a package to a client, having raced through London on the back of a Virgin bike in torrential rain.

What’s the secret to a successful party?

Location, music, light and comfort are all important, but it’s the people who really make the party.

What has been your most memorable west London meal and why?

Dinner with my family and closest friends in the Presidential Suite at Claridge’s with Jools Holland playing the piano.

What was the last show you saw in London?

The Real Thing. I’m a big Toby Stephens fan.

What’s your favourite west London building?

Brompton Oratory.

You’ve worked with some extremely creative people. Who have you found most inspiring?

My uncle Mark Birley, who understood good service better than anyone.

How have you managed to balance family and work life?

I’m not sure I have.

What are you most proud of and why?

My children; they are exceptional.

What local shops do you rely on?

Chelsea Health Food Store [402 King’s Road], and Tinto café [411 Fulham Palace Road] opposite Bishops Park where I walk every morning.

What’s your philosophy on life?

One day at a time.

Tell us a secret about the area…

There’s a never ending supply of tennis balls hidden in the bushes at Hurlingham Park – my Labrador Toby never fails to locate them.
