Rapper-songwriter A.D.E. on inspirations, music and spending too much on clothes

Tell us about your creative work for The Hangover Club…

I started The Hangover Club with producer Zac Holden a year and a half ago – it’s a group of artists, producers, videographers and designers.

How would you describe your music?

I’d describe The Hangover Club’s music as alternative rap; my solo music is more electro – similar in style to M.I.A and Santigold.

To what extent is your fashion sense influenced by your music?

I’d say it’s 50/50. A lot of my lyrics are self explanatory and they’ll be about what I do day-to-day. I’ve recently finished a song called Balmain Bandit.

Where do you live and why?

Harrow – my family have a house there. I grew up in west London and went to sixth form college in South Kensington.

What’s your tipple?

A Disaronno and coke or a Malibu and coke.

Who do you most admire in the music industry?

Michael Jackson is my biggest inspiration.

Where was your last holiday and what did you get up too?

I was in Paris recently, working with a music producer.

What advice would you give to a tourist who only had one day to see London?

You need a Londoner to see the real London – but I recommend Brick Lane and Portobello Market.

What is your favourite quote?

‘I think; therefore I am’ – Descartes.

What was the last gig/play/exhibition you saw?

I can’t remember the name of the last play I saw at the The Tricyle Theatre but it was really good. Before that I saw The Lion King – I’ve seen it about four times but a girl wanted to see it…

What are you most proud of?

Being able to make music without having to worry about surviving financially.

Have you ever stolen anything?

I stole a cookie from a cookie jar when I was 13 or 14 – nothing serious.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Spending too much on clothes.

Theatre makers Nadia Cavelle & Zachary Fall talk parenthood, creativity & why they co-founded the Woven Voices Prize

Firstly, tell us your favourite thing about west London…

We love the hustle and bustle of Soho, where we’ve seen many shows and attended many auditions! We also have very fond memories of Chiswick, home of the Tabard Theatre, where we produced our first play, Bruises, in the summer of 2015.

Carolyn Arnold, Clarendon Cross Residents’ Association, on TFL’s proposed new cycleway across Holland Park

Why are you against TfL’s proposed new cycleway across Holland Park roundabout?

While we support all efforts to make cycling safer in London, we are against the proposals because they involve removing road space and adding traffic lights on one of the busiest intersections in Central London, connecting… Read more →
