The Blurb:
Kell Skött Haircare’s new bright, slick salon is located in a secluded cobbled mews off Westbourne Grove. The personalised treatment I was about to try uses all-natural range, Phyto, combining the Equilibrium Treatment (£20), the MicroMist Treatment (£27) – the newest haircare treatment sensation from Japan which ensures results last longer than conventional steam treatments – and a blow dry (£22–£42). You are also given an ingredients list of the products used, so the treatment can be recreated at home.
The Process:
After a quick hair assessment (dry, fine and showing signs of chlorine damage), senior stylist Shyli got to work cleansing and balancing my scalp with a massage using PhytoPolleine’s Universal Elixir, a blend of essential oils. Fifteen minutes under the MicroMist machine ensured the ingredients penetrated the hair cuticles, while the final cool blast seals them. A good wash (the seats at the sinks slide forward for comfort) is followed by a bespoke mask combining plenty of hydrating and nourishing ingredients, including nectar oil, keratin, egg yolk and juniper berries. As my hair is highlighted, Shyla also recommended a colourless glossing treatment (Intensive Gloss Treatment is £15), which was applied at the backwash from roots to ends, left to process for five minutes, before being rinsed out.
The Result:
My hair definitely felt softer and in better condition following the blow dry. It also looked fuller and much glossier. It withstood the sweat-test at the gym that evening and I’m hoping the glossiness lasts the potential two months.
