The Jemma Kidd Make Up School

The Blurb:

The Jemma Kidd Make Up School offers a choice of six sessions that can be tailor-made to suit individual requirements. Sessions last two hours and you receive a goody bag of some of the products used for your look. I opted for Day to Evening Red Carpet Glamour as I had the WLL Easter party that evening.

This covered two make-up looks with expert steps to transform one look to the next, starting with a natural day look followed by clever techniques to transform into a classic evening look.

The Process:

I was greeted by the welcoming studio team and introduced to my instructor Jodie. The studio is light, spacious and relaxed with an endless supply of drinks and snacks.

The initial consultation with Jodie involved her going through my current make-up collection; she informed me that I am already wearing the right shades but I have a few items that are unnecessarily complicated to use. We decided to focus on flawless coverage and smoky eyes to achieve the day to evening look.

Starting with the eyes she used a combination of bronze, gold and brown, a gel liner on the inside of my water line and a kohl pencil on the outer. Fantastic I-Glamour volume lashes (which are half-length false eyelashes) created impact while remaining natural.

My skin was primed and the Skin Perfection Kit used; the palette contains four different shades including a unique citrus shade with green undertones. The yellow corrects the blue/purple undertones beneath the eye and the green tones obliterate any unwanted redness. I’ve been searching for something to conceal those dark circles which are more hereditary than caused by booze and late nights – fabulous! The Berry shade was used on my cheeks to get a slight flush and the Iced Gold shade used on areas where the sun would usually hit to give a radiant glow.

We kept the lips natural by using the Hydrating Gloss Stick in Bridgetown; all the gloss sticks have Caribbean-themed names in reference to Jemma’s parents’ home in the Caribbean.

Other suggested looks included:

Perfect Skin and Red Lips
Touch up and even out skin with Bio Mineral Powder; then use Ultimate Lipstick Duo & Plumping Balm in Scarlet.

Metallic Eyes
Use Firming Eye Silk to achieve a subtle metallic eye. This product provides a silky look that doesn’t crease, available in vintage, pearl or antique. If eyeliner is already being worn, a layer of Crushed Jewel Gel Liner can achieve impact for the evening.

The Result:

With so many products on the market, tough choices need to be made, but I will definitely be incorporating some of the Jemma Kidd products into my daily and special occasion make-up routines. The tips, techniques and personalised advice I received are invaluable for any woman.
