Hairdresser to the stars James Forward has looked after some seriously impressive A-list locks including Alexa Chung’s and Kimberly Stewart’s. Lately, however, he has dedicated his time to working with luxury Chelsea hair salon Realhair to create an innovative shine service which promises to provide intense moisture and gloss to even the most troublesome tresses.
The Process:
As I sat in the beautifully chic, modern salon with my skinny cappuccino and chocolate coffee beans I knew I was in for a treat. First, my hair was analysed and surprisingly I was told it was in pretty good nick – the analysis determines how they apply your treatment and whether you need to have colour added. We decided to add gold to lift some of my natural highlights and enhance its glossiness.
My hair was then washed and my golden tinted gloss was applied which, with added mango oil, smelt divine. If your hair is particularly dry then you are positioned under the heaters to stimulate the product, but for me it was just left on to activate naturally for seven minutes.
After the gloss was rinsed out the Realhair masque was firmly massaged in from root to tip. This is one of the most popular products in the Realhair range and apparently protects hair against pollutants while adding moisture and bounce.
Then, as my hair was drying, the hot product of the moment, Moroccan oil was put through the lengths and ends and miraculously absorbed in, leaving it weightlessly smooth with no oiliness.
The Result:
My normally fluffy hair was left sleek and shiny with a healthy gloss and subtle gold shimmer. I was really impressed that even after so many products being applied my hair was weightless and bouncy. I was particularly surprised that the Moroccan oil absorbed straight into my hair, leaving no residue. This little pamper treatment is a cost-effective way of experiencing one of west London’s best salons and providing your hair with some serious TLC.
