John Carne Winter Hair Revival Treatment

The Blurb:

This contemporary, chic salon sits in a prime location in Harrods’ shadow, perfect for weary shoppers. Upstairs is the main salon; gleaming white with slick black detail, it has a modern, stylish feel. Downstairs houses their infamous spa room where your senses will be indulged with ambient mood lighting; aromatic fragrances and a relaxing head massage.

It is this intimate room that plays host to their newest treatment; the Winter Hair Revival. The bespoke treatment promises to bathe and lather your lacklustre locks in a selection of revitalising ingredients, while your therapist massages away your stresses and strains before locking in your hairs new-found moisture with a sparkling mineral water rinse… But does it deliver?

The Process:

As I entered the pristine new salon I was warmly welcomed by an array of million-dollar smiles; the staff are friendly, attentive and eager to please their new customers.

My appointment began with salon partner Sean analysing my hair; the way it sits, feels, moves – you name it. Having established that my hair was somewhat weather-beaten he selected products to moisturise and reinvigorate my hair while adding volume. I was then led down to the spa area where I shuffled in to my space-age, leather massage chair which, once in action, repeatedly rolled its way along my body (oddly playing particular attention to my derrier!).

My therapist Rory however, stayed firmly above my shoulders and gave me a firm but totally relaxing fango mud head massage. Fango mud absorbs pollutants while conditioning the hair, perfect for London lasses. My hair was then rinsed and lathered in a mineral bath shampoo containing amaranth oil to strengthen the hair cuticle and build volume before the ends were conditioned in a cashmere wrap to enhance shine. I then braced myself for the chilly sparkling mineral water rinse which woke me from my hypnotic state while giving my hair a thorough cleanse (the water from our taps has been treated and recycled numerous times so this provides a truly cleansing rinse).

Fabulously conditioned hair in tow, I was then escorted upstairs for a glass of chilled Champagne and a superb cut and blow-dry.

The Result:

As I skipped down Knightsbridge with my bouncy hair glistening under the twinkling lights of Harrods I was immediately indulged in second glances. My hair was light and bouncy and full of shine, not to mention perfectly styled to fall down my back in a curly cascade. Over the next few days my hair was visibly more manageable and hydrated.

Forget the standard glass of tepid water and treat yourself to a chilled flute of champagne – this salon is for special occasions.

Here at West London Living we are eagerly keeping our ears to the ground for news of their pending Easter hair treatment; word on the street is it involves chocolate!

Winter Hair Revival Treatment £32. Add on a cut and blow-dry from £60.
