Grown Alchemist Regenerator Facial at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah

The Blurb

Located in the heart of Knightsbridge with views over Cadogan Place Gardens, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah has recently reemerged after a major refurb. The hotel’s Peak Fitness Club & Spa, in particular, looks fantastic; and is now one of only two places in London to offer Grown Alchemist treatments.

Created by two Australian brothers, the 20-year-old Grown Alchemist brand is known for scientifically–innovative skincare using natural ingredients. At The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, both face and body treatments are on offer.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that The Carlton Tower Jumeirah’s spa is home to a gorgeous indoor swimming pool, flooded with natural light.

The Process

I was advised to come 15 minutes early, but there was no need, as I wasn’t called into my treatment until my allotted time. The treatment room was serene and immaculate with dark woods, candle-like lighting, and almost Japanese-inspired decor. The bed was generously sized and comfortable.

My expert facialist briefly described the process and explained that there would be cupping and cryo-balls involved, which she demonstrated on my arm. This was a thoughtful touch; otherwise, it may have been jarring to feel those sensations during the facial without knowing what they were.

The treatment involves double cleansing, and I especially enjoyed the geranium-scented Gel Facial Cleanser, which was worked into a nice lather. I felt like my face was getting a bubble bath. After the cleansing came an enzyme scrub, which was also worked into the top of my hands (which were then placed into mitts). To give the enzymes a chance to work their magic, I was given a relaxing neck and head massage. There was no oil involved, but note that the facialist does touch your hair (just FYI if you have a fresh blowout).

This is an “active” facial, so expect a good facial massage to help with lymphatic drainage and a hand massage with Age Repair Hand Cream, smelling of sweet almonds. The cupping was pleasant, though the cyro-ball wasn’t my favourite, as it’s used over serum, so it feels a bit sticky. However, I did enjoy the Age Repair Gel mask with pomegranate extract, applied via two fan brushes. It wasn’t flaky when it dried. Overall, the subtle, organic scents of the product were incredibly soothing. They’re also all-natural; 98 per cent vegan; and housed in fully recyclable packaging.

The experience ended with a few spritzes of Anti-Pollution Mist (a must for London) and some soothing lip balm.

Be sure to save some time post-treatment to enjoy the spa facilities, which—alongside the aforementioned pool—also include a sauna, steam room, and relaxation area.

The Results

My skin had a real glow immediately after my treatment and throughout the rest of the day. The products are very light, so my skin didn’t feel weighed down or overworked. I do wish they included a final step with SFP, especially as Grown Alchemist has a gorgeously sheer mineral sunscreen in their collection, but overall, two enthusiastic thumbs up.
