Eyebrow Threading & Eyelash Tint at Blink

The Blurb:

The pioneer of walk-in brow bars, Blink promises beautifully shaped brows with minimum fuss. Threading, a natural, ancient Indian skill which employs a cotton thread to remove unwanted hair, ensures quick and precise definition. The bars also offer other treatments, including eyelash perms, extensions and tints.

The Process:

My therapist, Chetana, was waiting for me at my black leather dentist-style chair in the buzzy beauty section of the ground floor of House of Fraser. After asking what I wanted (stray hairs removed from the top of brows as well as below and sides and an eyebrow trim), she got to work. I did feel a slight pinch and Chetana applied rose water to cool my pink eyebrows afterwards before showing me the results. The whole process was completed within 10 minutes and the pinkness had gone by the time I’d got to the car.
For the eyelash tint, I opted for the most popular colour, blue-black. A simple cleanser is used before Vaseline and cotton wool is applied to protect the eye area. The tint stays on for 10 minutes, during which time you have to keep your eyes closed, for obvious reasons, but I do suffer from some strange kind of vertigo; automatically wanting to harm my eyes, by opening them. Luckily, Chetana gave me a relaxing massage. Cool water on cotton wool is used to remove the tint.

The Result:

Tweezerman-plucked brows do not compare to threaded brows, which are extremely neat and, in my case, also made my eyes look bigger. The eyelash tint looks very natural (but still noticeable) and it’s great not having to worry about applying and removing clumpy mascara for at least two weeks.

Eyebrow threading is £17; eyelash tint is £18. Both treatments took less than 30 minutes.
