Chiswick, with it’s leafy tree-lined streets and innovative arts and crafts architecture seems to be getting nicer and nicer. There’s always something happening, the cheese, flower or flea market, theres the famous monthly car boot or perhaps it’s summer and Giffords is in town, it really is the place to be.. Of course I’m biased, I’m a local, and if like me, you are too, you might be pleased to know that its fast becoming a destination for hair, beauty and aesthetics. Several notable beauty chains have already opened outposts on the bustling high road, but if bespoke service with a boutiquey feel is more your style… then you ought to know about Dr Harry Clinic.
Dr. Harry (an actual doctor) takes a ‘thoughtful approach’ to aesthetics and injectables. ‘Attention to detail’ is paramount and in a nod to his training in traditional medicine, Harry is even pioneering a brand new treatment that uses ultrasound technology to pinpoint and dissolve filler that’s been misplaced by less experienced practitioners.
Despite his fresh and youthful appearance (something’s working) his website explains that he is trainer-level and has recently been showered with a slew of prestigious noms at The Aesthetics Awards including… Rising Star of the Year, Best New Clinic, Best Non-Surgical Result. I pop into visit him on a busy December shopping day on the top floor of his bright and airy clinic located just off The High Road.
The Consultation
With his affable charm and twinkly smile, Harry puts me instantly at ease. I haven’t had any injectables for three years, so out of practice and a little nervous. I suspect he senses this and so reassures me that we won’t be touching a needle until we’ve thoroughly chatted everything through. He hands me a mirror so that we can inspect my features clearly from the same perspective and discuss the best areas to treat.
I tell him that I’m keen to do something about my crow’s feet- but I’ve only really had baby botox before and would like to keep the results subtle. Harry suggests taking a more thorough approach to this area and balancing it with a lighter treatment elsewhere, particularly around the forehead. I tell him that I’d like to allow for a little movement, but that I’m keen to lose the ‘eleven’ if possible.
The Process
The actual process is quick and painless. Harry begins by marking out the treatment points for his own guidance and swiftly administers a series of painless injections. In the end, we decide to treat the forehead, the middle brow and the top lip. I’ve had a lip flip before, it’s a process that in relaxing the muscles on the top lip allows the inner lip to reveal itself in all it’s glory, reducing the appearance of ‘gummy smile’. In a flash, it’s al over, I’ve barely had time to think about it, and I suspect… that was his intention.
Aftercare is hugely important to Dr. Harry’s process and I’ve scarcely made it home before I’ve received a typed up summary of the areas treated – so that we know where to pick up next time.
The Results
Like many reputable clinics, Harry also offers a two-week check-in. This service is included and provides an opportunity for him to see how the botox has taken and which muscles have responded well. Dr. Harry’s ethos is that ‘balance is key’ so if you or he feel as though something needs tweaking, he’ll perform a ‘top-up’.
It’s totally my fault, but in the madness of getting ready for Christmas, I mis-remember the time of my appointment and call him to apologise. But never mind, because Harry swiftly pivots and jumps on a FaceTime call with me.
Luckily, I’m thrilled with the results and so is he. Although i had some initial wobbles as the tension eased, particularly around the lip area (totally normal) everything has calmed down by the time we chat. I realise that the wrinkles in the forehead area have totally gone. I tell him that ordinarily I’d have preferred a little more movement around the brow area, but by week three, things have settled in nicely and my face looks brighter, younger, fresher and more defined. My lips are now a wonderful shape, with more top lip exposed and my cupids bow, more prominent. My forehead ‘eleven’ is a distant memory and the best part is, that nobody knows… though I do receive a flurry of compliments over the Christmas break, family members telling me that I look ‘really well’.
I’d definitely recommend Dr Harry to anyone looking for botox that produces a natural and well-balanced look that is the best version of you. Dr Harry’s confident bedside manner is simply superb and the level of aftercare certainly gives any top-end Harley Street clinic a run for their money,
