The blurb
I’m the first person to admit that I’m probably not the perfect candidate for a weight loss solution. After booking in my appointment with LAZEO Clinic, I told as many friends as possible what I was going to be doing. Unsurprisingly, most made jokes about the lack of fat on my body to freeze. In fact, they all did. However, on my quest to become Candice Swanepoel, I’d give anything a go.
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive way to tackle stubborn fat through the freezing of cells. It sounded so simple—I wondered why people weren’t covering themselves in frozen peas for a few hours. I arrived for my appointment, anxious but excited.
The process
The LAZEO Clinic is situated in a beautiful cobbled street, away from the buzz of Westbourne Grove. Inside, I was offered a drink and led through to a warm room. Rachna, therapist for the day, sat me down and explained everything. The anxiety grew, the excitement disappeared and I started to worry what I had got myself into.
I chose to target my stomach, where Rachna began to measure and map out where the application would go. My less-than-flattering before photos were taken and I was told to get into bed. Rachna put on a gel sheet to protect my skin and the process began. The applicator was applied and a vacuum sucked the fat away from the body with a slight nipping feeling around the edges—the uncomfortable hour ahead of me had started.
LAZEO were solicitous about my wellbeing, lunch was served and drinks were brought to me to ensure my sugar levels stayed high. My hour’s treatment flew by thanks to the Netflix provided.
My research beforehand led me to believe it was the massage after the applicator came off, however, that was the most painful part of the experience. This was very right. The pain was strong for a few minutes, a hot water bottle was applied and the feeling slowly started to dissipate.
The results
Although I was warned of bruising and swelling afterwards, I only ever got a couple of small bruises. The area remained numb for a couple of weeks and tender to touch for a few more.
Eight weeks on, I can’t necessarily notice a difference, but after looking at my body every day for that period it’s bound to not have the same impact as looking back at the before photos. I would recommend CoolSculpting to anyone who has done everything they possibly can to budge weight and it just hasn’t worked.
