The Process
Tucked in the basement of Liberty is the uber-chic outpost of Dr Jack. Kitted out more like a grand sitting room, with large china urns and gilt-framed old masters, the reception and waiting area immediately put me at ease.
I was led into a spacious consulting room where Dr Adam and I discussed where I wanted filler and why. I was certain I wanted (more) placing below the cheekbone, to widen the mid-face, but Dr Adam said this would look very artificial, and ‘edge into Maleficent territory’. Gosh!
I’ve always been wary of filler above the cheekbone, as years ago the thing everywhere was always to make them higher, but, having naturally high cheekbones and quite a long face, the one time I agreed to this it was horribly ageing and I had it dissolved within the week.
Reluctantly, I agreed to Dr Adam placing it where he thought best, and gosh, am I glad I did! He followed the line of my natural cheekbone and accentuated its existing shape, rather than making it higher or lower.
I liked it so much, I also let him put a tiny dash in the centre of the cheek to replace some of the volume lost from the apples with age, which was another 10:10 move.
Dr Adam didn’t use a canula (praise the Lord), and I genuinely barely felt each injection. His background is in dentistry, and I’ve often found injectables less traumatic when administered by dentists. Their understanding of facial anatomy and vascularity is second to none, and his calm bedside manner and clear communication made it one of the most relaxing tweakments I’ve had. And I’ve had a lot.
The Result
I’m extremely glad I listened to Dr Adam. The filler placed where the light naturally hits was infinitely more flattering than where I’d wanted it, below the cheekbone. He only used a single syringe of filler – not a lot for the cheeks – but positioned so strategically that the improvement was indubitable.
