'The hidden location leads you away from the busy flow of shoppers into a tranquil environment'

Brazilian at The Waxing Studio, King’s Road

The blurb

The Waxing Studio, King’s Road is run by Amelia Craddock Williams, a highly qualified therapist with over 10 years of experience. She offers a wide range of bespoke treatments, including massage, manicures and tinting. However, as the name suggests, the studio is most renowned for its waxing, focusing on a fast, friendly and virtually pain-free service.

The process

Despite the many occasions I have strolled along the King’s Road, I was never aware of this hidden gem. The door is discreetly tucked between stores and situated within The Wellington Clinic. The hidden location leads you away from the busy flow of shoppers and into a tranquil environment (with an incredible view!).

I wanted to try one of their most popular treatments, especially with summer round the corner, so went for the Brazilian wax. Amelia greeted me on the way up to the studio, and made me instantly comfortable with a glass of water and friendly attitude. A short health questionnaire for new clients was given to me so that the treatment could be tailored to my skin type and personal needs, before I was led to a spacious, bright treatment room.

Amelia explained the types of wax they prefer to use and the process of the treatment. Her wax is blended with tea tree and green tea, due to their antibacterial and antiinflammatory properties, along with antioxidants to help soothe the skin. For the intimate areas involved in a Brazilian, a hot wax is used, which envelopes and vacuum packs each individual hair for a smooth removal.

I was then given privacy to prepare myself on the treatment table before we began. Starting on the bikini line and working her way in, Amelia worked fast and efficiently. She chatted easily, making the process anything but awkward, and her technique really did mean that the wax caused barely any pain or discomfort. With a Brazilian you are given the choice of a strip or small triangle of hair and constant opportunities to check it over and decide exactly what you’re happy with.

Amelia finished the treatment with a soothing wipe and told me to exfoliate with a glove and light wash to prevent ingrown hairs and for longer lasting results.

The result

Despite how some ladies feel after a wax, I wasn’t sore in the slightest. Just a little tender, I had a breezy feeling for a short time after! I was informed that I would remain completely bare for around a week, however I found it lasted almost two, with the regrowth being completely pain free and even.
