360Athletic

The Blurb

If you’re a person who needs a little bit of a push when it comes to exercise, someone to keep you motivated and on track with your training, then 360Athletic may be just what you need. Founded by Jordane and Ben, this new boutique gym, in South West London, takes a different approach to fitness, combining their expertise in physiotherapy and personal training, to create a full 360° approach. Big groups and fancy lighting just isn’t their style; 360Athletic offer tailored one-to-one sessions, small group personal training (so even when you’re training together, the focus is still very much on you and can be adapted to your goals), as well as fitness classes.

The Process

360Athletic holds most of its training sessions in the morning and evening, so I decided to join what they call a ‘small group personal training’ class, at 9:30am – it really was small, there were only two of us. Each day, the small group personal training classes have a different focus, generally either upper body or lower body – mine was upper body. We started the class with a quick warm up, before moving onto bent over single arm rows, alternated with a push press – we did three sets. Other exercises included press ups, weighted lunges and core focused exercises. Our personal trainer, Sam, worked with each of us on our form and technique, as well as adding more weight, if required. We finished the session with an EMOM (every minute on the minute). This is usually two cardio exercises, where you have to perform a certain number of reps within the minute, any time left, is rest time. We did two six minute EMOMs. The first, alternating the SkiErg and weighted ball throws, followed by the assault bike and sledge push – this was a great finisher and definitely got the heart rate up!

The Results

I’d class myself a pretty fit person, running half marathons for fun most weekends – I basically enjoy workouts that are high impact, otherwise I tend to lose interest. 360Athletic brought the heat and very much held my attention. It was great to train in a small group, in a gym with some of the latest equipment, supported by a professional trainer. Ollie was also very mindful of any injuries I had during training. As a member, Ollie and sports specialist physiotherapist Jordane Zammit Tabona would both be very much across my training, creating tailored plans to aid rehabilitation, strength and fitness.

The Details

360Atheletic is a members gym only, though you can sign up for a four-week trial, which includes 10 personal training sessions, unlimited classes, physio screening, nutritional guidance and access to body composition analysis. Although there’s no ‘open gym’, classes are regular and varied enough that this won’t be missed. There’s also an online portal for members, featuring workout videos and advice – perfect if you fancy some at-home training.
