Exclusive, artistic, and utterly elegant: World-leading bars launch new cocktails for Frieze Week

The art of a cocktail – introducing Curated Excellence: The Dalmore’s Epicurean Voyage

Six of Mayfair’s most revered venues are now offering limited-edition cocktails in collaboration with The Dalmore.

Curated Excellence: The Dalmore’s Epicurean Voyage will see world-leading teams of mixologists from The Berkeley Hotel, Brown’s Hotel, Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Dorchester, and sketch present exquisitely executed expressions of creativity and craftsmanship in liquid form.

Each serve a masterful statement of originality and imagination, the carefully curated cocktails pay homage to the eclectic and stunning art that each location plays host to. Art aficionados and fine liquor connoisseurs alike are encouraged to join The Dalmore for a journey of discovery; taking the time to savour the experience of each outstanding serve throughout Frieze Week and beyond.

The collection of cocktails has been created to celebrate The Dalmore’s sponsorship of Frieze’s West End Galleries Night at No. 9 Cork Street, which saw special presentations from celebrated artists Wanda Koop and Kenny Rivero, alongside a group exhibition conceived by renowned Australian artist Tony Albert and curator Jenn Ellis, presented to London audiences on 12th October 2023.

Selvi May Akyildiz, Director of No. 9 Cork Street, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with The Dalmore once again. The Dalmore feels like a perfect match to West End Gallery Night and it’s wonderful to see how our different worlds inspire one another. We look forward to sampling the cocktails as we tour the exhibitions across Mayfair.”

Lucy McQueen, UK Brand Manager for The Dalmore, added: “We are thrilled to be complementing our sponsorship of the Gallery Night with Curated Excellence, which will offer Londoners and those visiting a taste of the passion for creativity, art, and premium liquid shared by The Dalmore, Frieze, and each of our partners involved. Each serve is something unique and I encourage whisky and art enthusiasts alike to take a look at all six, trying one over each day of Frieze Week; there’s something there for everyone!”

Participating Venues

Berkeley Bar at The BerkeleyHighland Fizz

Inspired by the female faces that peer out from the Berkeley Bar’s pink-hued wall mural, Highland Fizz will delight cocktail connoisseurs with its combination of Dalmore 12-Year-Old, Drambuie, Agave, lemon juice, Angostura bitters and soda water, creating its own hue that effortlessly complements the art on the wall.

Donovan Bar at Browns HotelThe Kingsley

Inspired by one of the iconic portraits of Kingsley Amis that proudly hangs in the Donovan Bar, The Kingsley pays homage to the Vesper – 007’s drink of choice – with a nod to Scotch, what Bond drinks the most throughout Amis’ novels. Using Dalmore 12-Year-Old, Bordeaux Coffee Liqueur, and Pedro Ximenez, topped up with tonic water to reference the quinine in the Lillet originally used for the Vesper martini, this serve makes a bold statement.

The Painters’ Room at Claridge’s: Taste of Courage

Dedicated to the stained-glass art display opposite the bar, Taste of Courage uses Dalmore 12-Year-Old, Barolo Chinato, Tempus Fugit Cacao, Mr Black and Amaro Averna to create a serve that’s as striking and intricate as its inspiration.

Red Room at The ConnaughtSILENCE

Dedicated to the “Silence” fountain at the entrance of The Connaught – a TADAO ANDO art piece – this imaginative serve includes Hazelnut Liqueur, Fino Sherry, and Hazelnut & Grapefruit Soda, artfully mixed with The Dalmore 12-Year-Old.

Artists’ Bar at The DorchesterThe Hidden Tree

Demanding as much attention as the striking painting of a solitary Cherry Blossom tree that calls the Artists’ Bar home, The Hidden Tree cocktail is rooted in tradition. Dalmore Port Wood infused with Black Cherry is mixed with Lapsang maraschino, Bitter Fusetti and vanilla cordial, served elegantly in an old fashioned glass.

sketch: HERBARIUM

Complimenting the glass used in Lasvit’s installation within sketch, HERBARIUM artfully pairs The Dalmore 12-Year-Old with pineapple and mango syrup-infused Perique Liqueur. Bringing together nature at the heart of the installation, the drink is beautifully presented with a skeleton leaf that has taken a journey of its own to become mesmerisingly translucent.
