CLAP Restaurant expands its culinary empire, bringing its Japanese dining experience to London

Located a stone’s throw from the iconic Harrods, the 9,731sq. ft location will transform a refurbished tube station into a sprawling, three-level culinary destination. On entry, the ground floor will introduce guests to a chic café (due to open Q1 2024) before being drawn to the 6th floor to embark upon a voyage of Japanese cuisine through CLAP’s fusion of authenticity and innovation. The journey will culminate in an exclusive rooftop bar and lounge on the seventh floor, offering both indoor and outdoor terrace seating with 360 panoramic views of central London.

Injecting a fresh concept from abroad, CLAP is leading the charge in the renaissance of the Knightsbridge area. This new location is a testament to CLAP’s pioneering spirit and embodies its unwavering commitment to delivering captivating experiences and genuine hospitality without compromising on quality.
At the helm of the kitchen is Culinary Director Chef Renald Epie, a highly accomplished French culinary expert boasting an impressive career spanning over 25 years. Chef Renald has drawn upon the traditions and flavours of Japan to curate a menu that seamlessly blends with his background and training, creating an enticing array of dishes that showcase his unique take on modern Japanese cuisine. Delectable Zensai (Bites) of Hokkaido Scallops and Foie Gras and Wagyu Beef Tartare and Biwa Caviar are followed by Hajimera (Starters) of Roasted Tamara King Crab Leg. Diners can choose from the finest selection of Nigiri and Sashimi as well as signature rolls and Nama (Raw) dishes including vibrant ceviche, tataki and tiradito. Meinkōsu (Main Courses) of Sea Bass Amapeño, and Pistachio Crusted Baby Chicken with yuzu and daikon will join the menu, feeding their way from the open kitchen to expectant tables. CLAP will also be home to an authentic Omakase offering, allowing all guests the chance to leave it up to the chefs to curate the ultimate CLAP dining experience.
Drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s electric nightspots, guests can expect the unexpected when visiting CLAP, offering a high-energy atmosphere with music-led programming that will create and nurture an energetic aura that ripples from the restaurant to the rooftop. As the evenings set in, the lights will dim and the music will bring CLAP to life as the bar team shakes and stirs the classics and the creative to order. Specializing in imaginative cocktails designed to awaken the senses, CLAP has collaborated with the world’s best bars to showcase the eclectic side of modern Japanese drinking. Concoctions range from the smoky and complex Tokashi-Gawa (Truffle, Tequila, Mezcal, Lapsang Souchong, Oabika, pickled radish, passionfruit infusion, jasmine, dash of Pimento Dram) to the silky and umami of Detective Conan (Shochu, Pisco, yuzu juice, cascara tea, grapefruit cordial, clarified milk, Maraschino, blue spirulina), offering something for every palate.
