Now, I wouldn’t describe myself as particularly ‘lucky’ – the rain waits until I leave the house to pour, I get to bus stops just as the bus pulls away – generally speaking lady luck doesn’t appear to be on my side. Despite this, I can always be tempted to give her a chance on the National Lottery.

The New Lotto will go on sale Thursday 3 October at £2 per line, and will offer more ways to win more money. The changes include a new Lotto raffle – at least 50 winners will scoop a guaranteed £20,000 in each Lotto draw, and if the jackpot rolls, the number of raffle winners grows too; bigger prizes for matching three numbers – the prize for matching three numbers will more than double, increasing from £10 to £25; bigger jackpots – the average Saturday jackpot will increase to around £5 million and the Wednesday jackpot will increase to around £2.5 million.
Playing new Lotto is just as easy as it’s always been – players will still choose six numbers from 49 either using the play slip or Lucky Dip. In the Autumn, when players buy a Lotto ticket, they will receive a unique raffle number printed at the bottom, to have a chance of winning 50 guaranteed prizes of £20,000.
As well as giving players more ways to win more money, new Lotto will also be contributing more funding to crucial National Lottery Good Causes all over the UK. Each week, National Lottery players raise over £35 million for Good Causes.
