Keeping Family Memories Alive: Amy Childs Teams Up with London’s Attic Self Storage

TV personality and mum-of-four Amy Childs has partnered with London-based Attic Self Storage to help families across the capital preserve their most precious childhood keepsakes.

As parents, we all know how fast the years go by. One moment you’re bringing your baby home from hospital, the next you’re waving them off to school. From tiny shoes to first drawings, those small treasures hold the power to take us back in time – but with busy homes and little space, they often end up tucked away or forgotten.

That’s where Attic’s new Memory Box campaign comes in. Inspired by London’s growing family communities, the campaign encourages parents to curate their own memory boxes – selecting the moments that matter most, while keeping clutter at bay.

Amy, who grew up in Barking, has created memory boxes for each of her four children. In them, she’s saved precious items such as hospital bands, first birthday cards and handwritten letters, carefully chosen to tell each child’s story. For Amy, the value of a memory box lies in selecting the pieces that truly capture a moment, rather than keeping everything, creating something that feels meaningful without being overwhelming.

To help parents get started, Amy has shared her top five tips for creating a memory box:

  • Be Selective: Choose items that tell a story, not everything you’ve collected.
  • Save the Milestones: First outfits, first scribbles, birthday cards.
  • Let Go of the Guilt: Donate or recycle duplicates and bulky items.
  • Protect What You Keep: Use a sturdy box, acid-free paper, and labels.
  • Think Beyond the Box: If you run out of space, self-storage can help keep memories safe without overwhelming your home.

Attic, which has new sites in Barking & Dagenham and Enfield, says the campaign is about more than storage: it’s about celebrating the emotional value of the things families choose to hold onto.

“We believe storage is about more than just square footage – it’s about making space for the things you love,” says Sophie Bagnall, Marketing Director at Attic Self Storage. “Our new store openings in Enfield and Barking & Dagenham are a chance to give back to the communities we serve by helping families protect and preserve the memories that matter most.”

With Londoners facing smaller homes and busier lives, the idea of protecting what matters – and letting go of the rest – has never felt more relevant.
