Pixi Beauty

Pixi have a desirable backstory: a family run business, founded in London, which aims to enhance your natural beauty with multi-purpose and no fuss products. This, coupled with their delicious looking packaging, paints quite the fairytale picture. Overall I know it to be a really nifty brand. I’d especially recommend it if you’re just getting into makeup, as it’s affordable, fun and easy to find (it’s available in Boots, M&S and ASOS, to name a few). I’ve always loved their makeup, but I’ve actually never tried their skincare, even though some of the products have reached cult status. Here is a run down of some of their newest products, mixed with their most famous..

The Glow Tonic, £18 for 250ml

The Pixi Glow Tonic is a highly concentrated, invigorating facial toner that deeply cleans pores by sweeping away excess oil and impurities. This award-winning, invigorating toner deeply cleanses and gently exfoliates all skin types in one lovely step.

The Verdict

This is definitely their flagship piece in terms of skincare: an AHA and 5% glycolic acid exfoliator. What I love about this product is that it’s gentle enough for you to use it pretty much every day. I’ve found some glycolic acid products to feels harsh on my skin, but this doesn’t. It’s alcohol free as well, which is great, as it doesn’t dry out your skin; instead it leaves it glowing, delivering its promise.

Top tip: You don’t need to apply toners with cotton pads, you can just use your hands!

C Vit Priming Oil – Pixi Beauty UK

Pixi Priming Oil, £24

Infused with Vitamin-C, this tri-phase oil nourishes, energises and balances to prep and prime for a radiant glow.

The Verdict

This is another award winning product. I’ve never used an oil primer before, and I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised. It contains a myriad of luscious ingredients that help with hydration, protection and brightening, and it helped sink in my makeup for a flawless finish. Overall this was a winner for me, and I will definitely be repurchasing.

Top tip: You need to give it a good shake before applying, as the ingredients separate quite quickly.

Overnight Retinol Oil – Pixi Beauty UK

Overnight Retinol Oil, £26

This exquisite oil blend helps to restore skin plumpness and improve the appearance of fine lines and pores.

The Verdict

I love that this comes with a separate dropper, so the product can stay fresh for longer. The bottle they’ve used also protects the retinol from the effects of the sun, which can render it less effective. I like that it’s in an oil form, as I prefer something heavier at nighttime. I’ve overwhelmed my skin with products that are primarily retinol in the past, but this serum contains so many lovely skin ingredients that it is just the right mix to leave my skin feeling treated yet cared for when I wake up. Overall, it’s a really good product to introduce you to retinol.

Vitamin C Juice Cleanser, £18

Gently cleanse and brighten your skin while improving the overall tone and appearance of your complexion with the Pixi Beauty Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser.

The Verdict

This is a light and refreshing cleanser and ideal for double cleansing, and I liked how fresh it made my face feel. It contains probiotics and Ferulic Acid, which helps in reducing the effects of free radicals on the skin. It also contains Absorbic Acid, which is the effective Vitamin C that you want to be looking for in the ingredients list. If you can handle fragrance then it smells delicious, with notes of orange that don’t overwhelm. The packaging is smart, and it has an applicator that stops you from using too much in one go (more is not more, as they say)!

+C Vit Under Eye Brightener, £16

This Vitamin-C infused under eye perfecter blurs and energises to give an instant awakening effect. Refreshing treatment in a tube brightens and restores vibrancy.

The Verdict

I often have dark circles under my eyes, and I have tried many solutions to fixing them, from concealers to caffeine solutions. This is a hybrid product: part-eye serum and part-concealer. It contains Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid, similar to the cleanser, and caffeine (a well known ingredient for de-puffing eyes). It also contains mica, which is often used in things like highlighters and eyeshadows. I found this easy to apply, and could see the subtle results instantly. It works well under your normal concealer, or if you going for a natural look you can use it on its own. It’s great for a morning pick me up, and for people who prefer a dewy glow to a matte finish.

Top tip: Don’t use too much of this, you only need a little bit to get the desired effect.
