The Floral Jumpsuit

We are at that confusing time of year when the weather is being forever indecisive. Cloudy with a chilled breeze gets burnt up by 24 degree heat, then the winds blow back in. And it seems to be changing daily!

So for you ladies who can’t wait any longer to get the summer frocks out, but regret it later when the sun goes in, it’s time to buy yourself a jumpsuit. The perfect compromise, the jumpsuit feels and looks as good as a statement maxi dress with the added bonus of being in trousers for when the sun goes away.

A full outfit of pattern covering your body can be a little daunting, so I suggest starting off with a subtle floral. With such a varied range of floral prints, you’ll have no problem finding something that suits you from head to toe.

On the high street Next and Oasis are great examples of wearing a jumpsuit in bold colours and large prints. Use dark blue as your base, mix with bold pinks and corals for the ideal year round jumpsuit. Next go for charcoal and light salmon pink with frills and an open back for added femininity. Oasis mix a fusion of red and pink roses against navy, with a V shaped cross over neck line, perfect for you bustier ladies.

If you prefer to have your arms covered then this plunge jumpsuit from Rare London is the ultimate option. The loose full-length sleeves with elastic cuffs create an elegant shape, subtly covering the arms. As this one-piece shows less skin overall, you can get away with the plunging neckline. A really sexy option for summer garden parties.

If you dislike your upper arms but want some sun on your shoulders then Very have the answer. The cut-out shoulders mean your arms can still absorb much-needed vitamin D, while covering any wobbly bits. Again we see the colour palette of blues and shades of pink, this time in peach with a base of white for a fresh spring look.

For a less floral and more tribal ensemble check out the Tismane jumpsuit from Anthropologie. The side pockets and drawstring waist keep it practical for daytime wear. Stick to earthy tones for your accessories, with natural shades of brown and orange, and add some hints of gold if you like a bit of bling.

My top summer finds are so frequently from Zara. This delicate halterneck with a waist tie is a great piece for summer days in the office. Sophisticated yet fun, its tailored shape would look great with a block colour blazer to complement the detailed print.
