Shimmy

58 Porchester Road, London, W2; Thu–Sat 8pm–2am

On the former site of cherryjam on Porchester Road, Shimmy launched in October 2013 with Hugo Heathcote and Tom Carr at the helm, taking the venue back to its legendary musical roots. As creative and musical directors, the duo will create an outlet for all the sounds and party scenes they love. Attracting their following to this much-needed west London late night dancefloor, putting Notting Hill at the forefront of the capital’s club scene once more.

Wonderland-esque in spirit, Shimmy encourages playfulness and eccentricity. Optical illusions and quirky trinkets are offset against stylish exposed brickwork, subway tiling and rich wood panels. The warm and inviting atmosphere is created with mercurised mirror, amber light filters and candles. Vintage shabby chic meets modern effects such as light box ‘windows’ within the caves. Vintage porn and cheeky peep holes in the toilets. Shimmy is idiosyncratic, full of character and your mischievous friend.
