Jeans for Genes day ambassador SpongeBob SquarePants rewards local schools for outstanding fundraising

In aid of the twentieth anniversary of Jeans for Genes Day Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants has rewarded Wetherby and Minors Nursery Schools in Notting Hill for their exceptional fundraising efforts over the last twenty years. Brand ambassador SpongeBob paid an extra special visit to Wetherby and Minors to reward pupils and teachers for their individual excellences and continual dedication to the charity. Minors Nursery is the largest ever donating nursery while Wetherby was awarded for its outstanding contribution to the charity over the last four years.

During his visit, Spongebob joined delighted pupils in the classroom during lesson time and also had chance to enjoy a kickabout on the playground. His special visit was arranged to thank pupils and staff for taking part in Jeans for Genes Day and helping the charity to provide help and support to children and families living with genetic disorders.

This year, to mark the 20th anniversary of Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 18th September, celebrity supporters and professionals have been encouraged to do something extraordinary in their jeans to raise money for children suffering from a genetic disorder. Organisations including the English National Ballet, London Eclipse Cheerleading Team and a group of synchronised swimmers are all supporting the campaign and donning their denim to do something memorable.

For the second consecutive year SpongeBob has swapped his iconic brown pants in favour of a pair of denim ones along with his friends Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, and Gary the Snail to help raise awareness of children living with genetic disorders. Jeans for Genes Day has so far raised more than £40million over the last twenty years. The annual fundraising appeal encourages supporters to wear their jeans and make a donation that will transform the lives of children and families affected by genetic disorders.
