Set in the buzzing, beating heart of Soho, Salon64 is a dual-level, uber-cool hub for styling and socialising. Part makeup and hair salon and part café and bar, this boundary-breaking hair hotspot comes from the mind of Daniel Galvin-alum and celeb-favourite Ricky Walters. Interiors ooze with high-end glam where concrete and marble meet warm gold accents and dark woods. The vibe is anything but boring with good music; chic electric fire-pits; and self-serve pop-up makeup stations where you can touch up before heading out for the night. Services on offer cover hair, nails, and makeup, and a fully stock bar plus custom coffee sourced from Colombia means no one will go thirsty.
The Process
One of the most interesting things about Salon64 is that they’re not locked into one brand partnership; this means that each product has been effectually hand-selected to do the job at hand. Ricky starts my detox hair treatment by dampening my dry hair with Color Wow’s Dream Filter. This pre-shampoo spray is designed to act as a magnet to draw out drying and dulling minerals and metals that are typically found in London’s hard water. The treatment isn’t harsh and it just needs to sit on the hair for a few minutes (thankfully, it smells great too). Afterwards, I get a double shampoo and conditioning with sophisticated R+Co products (plus a soothing head massage), which is followed by a blow-dry.
The Results
The moment the very first section of my hair falls from the round brush, I know this is going to be a damn fine blow-dry, (which sadly, is still hard to find). Ricky is a pro and in record speed, he has given me the big, bouncy curls of a Victoria’s Secret model. Thanks to the Color Wow Dream Filter, my locks are ultra-sleek and glossy, but as the detox product is so light, Ricky is still able to give me tonnes of va-va-voom volume. I flounce out the door vowing to return, and best of all, the silky shine lasts for a few days.
