After an exhausting day of retail therapy I was in need of some serious TLC. Hauling bags all the way from French Sole to Peter Jones and everywhere in between had seriously taken its toll; and then I saw it, like an oasis in the desert… The Chelsea Day Spa. Since opening last year the spa has won itself a loyal, local following and as a result it continues to expand. With two treatment rooms they now offer services such as waxing, massage, nail therapy, body treatments, physiotherapy, threading and facials. Their aim is to provide a luxury personal service in boutique surroundings.
The Process:
On my arrival at the spa I was introduced to my charming therapist who made me feel at ease immediately. Having taken me into my cosy treatment room she then gave me a 10 minute consultation in order to assess my physical wellbeing and establish exactly what I wanted to gain from the treatment. I was really impressed with the bespoke service which allowed me to dictate exactly which areas of my body she spent the hour focussing on. Like many people I tend to store tension in my shoulders and so I requested that the majority of the time was spent working on this area and the remainder was spent on a relaxing leg massage. We then agreed on a medium pressure massage with more pressure to be applied if necessary, unsurprisingly she informed me that I would need a firm massage to really tackle the knots in my shoulders. I am not going to lie that bit was a little on the painful side, however my therapist was clearly extremely skilled, I could feel her pinpoint troublesome areas and then literally melt away the pent-up tension. The leg massage was incredibly relaxing, so much so that she had to wake me up at the end of my hour.
The Result:
On my way to the spa I was your typical bad tempered and frustrated Londoner attempting to battle my way through the crowds but as I made my way home following the treatment I simply smiled and floated through the hoards feeling totally relaxed and content. That night I had the best night’s sleep for a long time!
