Baby’s First Christmas: An ultimate gift guide

A clip was shared on social media of a dad unwrapping his baby’s presents on Christmas day. She received a pack of Pampers, ‘free rent’ and ‘16 years no bills.’ It gained more than 35 thousand views with many commenting on what a great idea the gifts actually were.

Whether it’s your baby’s first Christmas or your friend has recently given birth – then you’ll want to get the little one a festive gift. But, you need to think practically because they will outgrow a lot of things, very quickly. Plus, it won’t be long until you are presented with a Christmas wish list like this one written by a 10-year-old girl including everything from a LOL doll and alarm clock to a new MacBook Air and Gucci sliders.

So, to help you pick the perfect present, here is the ultimate gift guide for baby’s first Christmas:

A special keepsake

Personalised gifts are the ideal keepsake for your little one, that will last long after Christmas and be something they still have well into adulthood. This could be a photo album to capture their childhood memories or a framed print of their hand or foot. They will always remember the present they first unwrapped under the tree when they can still enjoy it in years to come.

Warm clothing

It’ll only get colder as we head into January – so make sure they are snuggly and warm throughout the winter months with clothing you can wrap them up in. Check out the likes of Vertbaudet where you’ll find cosy sleepsuits, pram suits and jackets. You can also add some accessories, such as hats and gloves.

Put their name on it

Show off your baby’s brand new name by personalising their present. You can do this with pretty much anything now, clothing, a cuddly toy, book, bib – whatever you fancy.

Matching clothing

If your baby has an older sibling then there is nothing cuter than matching items emblazoned with ‘Big Bro’ / ‘Lil Bro’ or ‘Big Sis’ / ‘Lil Sis.’ This could be a matching t-shirt and babygrow, for example. You can also do this for mum and baby – the ideal way to buy two presents in one and make their Christmas extra special too.

Festive outfit

Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve – and no doubt seeing family and friends in between – calls for several festive outfits. So, rather than just adding them to the wardrobe, wrap a few to put under the Christmas tree. An elf sleepsuit, reindeer jumper or Christmas pudding hat will look adorable.

A framed photo

You’ve no doubt already taken lots of photos of your new bundle of joy. Don’t let them get lost on your camera roll, choose your favourite, print it off and pop it in a frame. This might be them on their own or a family snap but it can be put in pride of place. Can’t choose just one? Why not make a collage?

Something they really need

Whether your baby is one month old or 11 months, there will be something that they need that you would have bought for them anyway. Nappies actually aren’t a bad idea with newborns going through more than 12 of them a day.

Now you have some ideas, it’s time to start your Christmas shopping because Santa will be visiting before we know it.
