The Susan Llewellyn Academy of Interior Design

Age and circumstances should not limit our journey of personal discovery and creative fulfillment.

The academy on King’s Road is one month old and the new intake of students – both amateurs and professionals – are lapping up essential business tips, new design skills and practical sessions like babes to the teat. For those who don’t know, the award-winning founder is a respected and established designer with Susan Llewellyn Associates and BIID to her credit (impressive, huh?). She’s teamed up with fellow interior designer Sara Corker and business director Angela Hamlin to offer their creative, practical and expert advice to others. Susan says ‘age and circumstances should not limit our journey of personal discovery and creative fulfillment,’ which is why the academy is structured to suit those with existing career and family commitments.

Why buy now?

‘Inside almost everyone is an interior designer wanting to escape,’ says Susan. ‘By attending our design tours to venues such as Chiswick House and Leighton House, and by joining our academy, one can also invest in expanding your creative knowledge bank and educating the eye to appreciate the culture surrounding interior design.’ She forgot to mention the school trips to Venice, Milan and Verona. Ci vediamo lì!

Chasing our dreams usually plays fourth fiddle to work, families and responsibilities – the academy will help you learn without having to compromise on these things. Choose between a five-day course, a six-week course of one day per week, or one-day master classes. I’m just about to finish a nine-month weekend journalism course and it really has been a god-send to study around work. I would recommend it ‘til the cows come home.
